McCormick Re-Ups With The Sabres

Per Brad May (by way of Nick Kypreos), the Sabres have re-signed Cody McCormick to a 3 year, $3.6M deal. McCormick made his name for the Sabres in the 2010 first round loss to the Boston Bruins and followed it up with a full season in Buffalo. He had 20 points and 142 penalty minutes last season. His honest, old school approach to the game and versatility were a boon for the oft-bullied Sabres.

In signing McCormick, the Sabres have been in contact this morning with player agent Pat Morris. Following the team’s moves for Robyn Regehr and Christian Ehrhoff, it’s widely assumed by the media that they’ll be talking to Morris again today about his other free agent on their radar – Brad Richards.

UPDATE: The Sabres have since confirmed McCormick’s extension.
