Sabres/Flyers Stanley Cup ECQF Game 5 Late Recap: 5 years later…
Apr. 22, 2006 – It was a small, shifty forward (Danny Briere) who scored against the Philadelphia Flyers in extra time (2OT) to win the game for the Buffalo Sabres.
Apr. 22, 2011 – It was a small, shifty forward (Tyler Ennis this time) who scored against the Philadelphia Flyers in extra time (OT this time) to win the game for the Buffalo Sabres.
The Sabres are now up 3 games to 2 with game 6 to be played at 3PM on Sunday inside HSBC Arena.
The Jason Pominville injury can be a killer, but the Sabres are in no place to make like Mike Richards and whine. The Flyers have been without Chris Pronger and are now without him and Jeff Carter for the rest of the series, yet it’s maybe the only thing they haven’t groused about in the first round.
(Ed. note: With Pominville already confirmed out for game 6, Matt Ellis has been called up. No doubt he will center the fourth line which will probably move Brad Boyes up into Pominville’s spot)
