Down On The Farm, Mar. 31
Paul Bryon’s breakaway goal gave the Pirates a 1-0 lead in the first period and the rest of the team locked it down throughout the rest of the game, but two Bridgeport Sound goals in 1:23 took it all away and the Pirates lost 2-1 in their second game of the back to back.
The Pirates’ magic number to clinch home ice in at least the first round is 6 while the magic number to win the division is still 8.
The only game on the schedule today is a Western Conference battle, so there is no impact on the Pirates.
Luke Adam and Paul Byron were easily the two best players on the ice for the Pirates last night, but the team’s shortening depth is becoming a point of concern for the Atlantic Division leaders. Kevin Dineen may be a fantastic coach who is seemingly paving his road to the NHL, but he can only work so many miracles. Check back later today here at Black & Blue & Gold as I talk about what some Amateur Tryout Contracts handed out by the Sabres could mean for the Pirates.
