Down On The Farm, Mar. 26

Pirates got rolled by Bridgeport Sound last night 5-1 and Manchester shutout Norfolk 4-0, shortening the gap on the division lead to 1 point.

(As you’ve noticed, the standings stop at 11th place. That’s because 12th through 15th place have been mathematically eliminated, so they just don’t matter anymore)

Tonight, the Pirates host the Checkers while the Monarchs travel to Norfolk. Assuming Manchester rolls on the Admirals, the Pirates MUST win to retain their division lead.

This could be a tall order, as checking winger (and occasional hero) Maxime Legault is likely lost for the season and playoffs with a shoulder injury and Luke Adam is sidelined for an indeterminate amount of time with a sternum injury. Can Kevin Dineen continue to work his miraculous magic with a shortened bench? Perhaps Mancari will be returned to the Pirates with Hecht making his return to the Sabres line-up tonight.

So nice of Rakhshani to score a hattie last night with Adam out, to tie him in rookie points. ROY in jeopardy in the late season?

Adam has only 48 games to Rakh’s 59.

If he’s out for any amount of time, yes I’d say his run is over.
