There weren’t any AHL games played yesterday, so everything remains as it did when last we checked.
Today the Pirates play the Worcester Sharks in the cozy confines of the Cumberland County Civic Center, where they far and away have the AHL’s best home points percentage. Puck drop is at an awkward 11AM, will be broadcast live on TWCS13 in the Buffalo market, and has serious implications for the home team. As Chris Roy has pointed out, a win this morning can clinch a playoff spot for the Atlantic Division’s leading team.
Outside of the Pirates’ own game, there isn’t a game on the schedule today that otherwise has an impact on them. It’s a nice day where the team only needs to worry about getting 2 points.
Luke Adam’s charge toward a historic third-straight Dudley Garrett Award for the Pirates has him enjoying a 10-game point streak that has propelled him back into the top 20 of overall league scoring. Marc-Andre Gragnani continues to write his own legend with his scoring, setting his eyes on the franchise mark for goals by a defenseman in a single season. He needs 6 more to own every major defenseman’s record. Mark Voakes, a late-season roster-filler, is making a strong case to earn an AHL contract for next season with his point-per-game scoring.
