Focus On Prospects, October 5
Lots went on this past week for the Sabres’ prospects, including Kassian making a big splash in his return to the Windsor Spitfires. Today, I’ll be referencing Kris Baker’s work yet again.
Kassian hangs 1+3 on Subury in return to OHL
So, Zack Kassian dominated in his return to the Spitfires after being sent back by the Sabres. I half expect his performances to be amped up to this level after spending so long performing at the NHL level. In this season, Sabres fans need to keep an eye on his production to see if he keeps up the intensity.
Connor Knapp faces four shots, world of Twitter
Knapp, a fairly-touted goalie prospect playing for the Miami (OH) Redhawks, faced four shots over 30:04 of play before yielding his crease to Cody Reichard as Miami won 6-0 in the preseason. He’s also a fresh face on Twitter, so Sabres fans follow @knapper311.
Henley channels Gordie Howe in win
Saturday night, Cedrick Henley of the Val-D’or Foreurs scored two goals against the visiting Lewiston Maineiacs. He also plugged in an assist and had a late-game scrap to complete the always-awesome Gordie Howe Hat Trick. The next game between the two teams, unfortunately, his Foreurs lost.
McNabb hits 200 games
In Brayden McNabb’s return to the WHL’s Kootenay Ice from Sabres camp on Friday night, he chalked up an assist during his 200th junior career game. In those 200 games, he’s got 105 points and 324 penalty minutes. As Kris pointed out, there’s no way he’s going to see a 300th.
