Training Camp Day 3 Impressions

Earlier I posted highlights of the scrimmage this morning, so in this post I’m going to talk about what impressions I got from various players.

Kevin Sundher has excellent hands & vision, but needs bulking up.

Shaone Morrisonn is very calm and collected and smooth,

Tim Conboy is a strong fore and back checker but has no hands.

Thomas Vanek looks lean and fast. He was even throwing his weight around.

Drew Stafford isn’t very impressive but wasn’t totally disappointing.

Miller looks rested and robotic.

Mike Weber and Brayden McNabb, the two number sixes, were plenty big and plenty strong. McNabb has a nice shot he gets through traffic.

Cody McCormick looks hungry for the regular season.

Nate Gerbe looks pretty okay but isn’t going to be stealing anyone’s roster spot.

Zack Kassian has continued to work on his skating and it’s doing him wonders. He scored what would’ve been the OT winner if the Sabres were using the golden goal rule. That Lindy has already said that Kassian will get to see some preseason action is good…if he impresses, he may earn himself a contract and a 9-game tryout. Keep an eye on him – there’s an outside chance he could Tyler Myers his way onto the Sabres.
