Stars and Black Holes: Jets @ Sabres: 12-17-13

12/18/13

In what was their best game of the season, the Sabres looked better than the Jets for pretty much as large a percentage of the game as you can in the NHL.  They won the shot battle 31-27 and though a large part of that was due to their 8 PIM advantage, they had a positive Corsi as well.

Stars:

  1. Matt Moulson, Matt Ellis, Marcus Foligno, and Steve Ott – The wealth got spread pretty wide in this one with no one registering more than one point and only six players registering no points.
  2. Mike Weber – At one point shot attempts were 16-2 in favor of the Sabres with Weber on the ice.  That’s…very un-Weber-like.
  3. Christian Ehrhoff, Tyler Ennis, Tyler Myers, Kevin Porter, Drew Stafford – I thought Myers made several fantastic plays last night and has been playing a solid game for a while now.

Unsung Hero:

  • None.

The Robert Wade Niedermayer Memorial Black Holes:

  1. None – To avoid this season from becoming completely unbearable, I’m going to be a little lenient from here on out.
  2. Henrik Tallinder – He just hasn’t been good.
  3. Alex Sulzer – Last night wasn’t his night either.

Unseen Goat:

  • None.
