Florida Panthers Make Good On President Michael R. Yormark’s Promise to LGBT Fans
Several days ago, Panthers President Michael Yormark said “The Gay population is a group we are trying to reach and better understand,” and the Florida Panthers revealed a partnership with the You Can Play Project in hosting an Equality Night on October 19th. The Panthers, not content with other NHL teams’ general policy of being quietly not unsupportive of the LGBT community, have gone all in promoting the event.
The Florida Panthers are happy to host the first ever Equality Night presented by The You Can Play Project. This is a time for the gay and straight communities to come together, to battle homophobia in the locker room and in sports. During the night there will be Public Service Announcements promoting equality in sports, recognition of groups of 10 or more in attendance, a post-game picture on the ice of all Equality Night supporters and a portion of each ticket sold will benefit The Pride Center (A major site for HIV testing and prevention, education and counseling in South Florida).
