Vulgar Statistics: Rookie Of The Year – Fast Starts?
I figured that with Luke Adam’s blazing hot start on the Sabres top line, it might be fun to take a look at the last five rookie of the year forwards and see how their pace compares to Adam’s. Since the season is only four games old, there really isn’t much more to talk about.
2010-2011 – Jeff Skinner
Through Four Games: 0 goals, 2 assists
Total Production: 31 goals, 32 assists
2007-2008 – Patrick Kane
Through Four Games: 0 goals, 3 assists
Total Production: 21 goals, 51 assists
2006-2007 – Evgeni Malkin
Through Four Games: 4 goals, 2 assists
Total Production: 33 goals, 52 assists
2005-2006 – Alexander Ovechkin
Through Four Games: 3 goals, 2 assists
Total Production: 52 goals, 54 assists
2001-2002 – Dany Heatley
Through Four Games: 1 goal, 2 assists
Total Production: 26 goals, 41 assists
Luke Adam
Through Four Games: 3 goals, 3 assists
Final Thoughts: Mr. Adam is in pretty good company with his gaudy stat line this season. It remains to be seen if he can keep anywhere near that level of production, but if he continues to play with Pominville and Vanek, I’d say it’s pretty likely.
