Vulgar Opinions: NHL Fans Piss Me Off Sometimes (NSFW)

I really shouldn’t care that much since everyone is entitled to an opinion no matter how flawed and ultimately wrong it may be.  But stupidity grates on me like nose-whistles and open mouth chewing.  And let me make one thing clear: if you pick Buffalo to be outside the top six, you are either a moron or banking on some catastrophic injuries.

I get that a lot of people think that Christian Ehrhoff is vastly overpaid and therefore overrated, that Robyn Regehr will soon enter a Craig Rivet-ian period of decline, and that Ville Leino is an experiment at best.  Which are fine opinions to have since they can only be proven or disproven as the season wears on.  But they don’t fucking matter.  Do you know why?  Because there’s no way in hell those players aren’t better options than Tim Fucking Connolly, Steve Fucking Montador, and Shaone Fucking Morrrrrrisonnnnnnnnnn unless they literally drop dead on the ice.  And even then it’s iffy (considering for all intents and purposes Connolly has done exactly that in Toronto).

When was the last time a good team with a top ten offense, an all-star goalie in the prime of his career, and a defense anywhere from decent to very good had to struggle to make the playoffs?  And don’t give me this Carolina/NYR bullshit, those teams are deeply flawed outside of their goaltender and a few key players.  But hey, those are fans and they tend not to have a huge amount of hockey knowledge outside of their own team.  Which is why it’s even more maddening when the people that follow hockey for a living do it.  Looking at you Sean Leahy, Dmitry Chesnokov, and Dobber (didn’t you die in Harry Potter?).  Hell, even Lambert picked us to move up a spot.

Whatever, ultimately it’s all pointless because the games dictate the results, not the opinions of a dozen fucktards.  Back to rooting through trade proposals on HF.  What’s that you say?  Eight mediocre players and a pony for Steven Stamkos?  I’m listening…
