Playoff Race Clusterf**k, Mar. 27

03/27/11
by

The Sabres and Flyers winning yesterday provided a double dose of doom for the Islanders, who are the latest Eastern Conference team to be eliminated from contention. However, wins by the Rangers and Capitals only served to further muck up the traffic jam at 6th through 8th place.

While Carolina, Toronto, and Atlanta aren’t quite there yet, the Devils are on playoff life support after being shutout by the Sabres. Right now, the Sabres are three points away from putting that last nail in the Devils’ coffin. Two of those could come with a win on Tuesday against the Maple Leafs.

Only one of the games on the docket today has any sort of impact on the Sabres (OTT at ATL), but otherwise you can just sit back and enjoy the tense spring hockey, folks.
