Down On The Farm, Mar. 27
The Pirates clinched their playoff spot and retained their division lead despite losing 5-4 to the Checkers by virtue of both Manchester and Worcester losing as well. Kevin Dineen was especially displeased with the special teams work in their loss after giving up 2 power play goals and a shorthanded goal. Dineen seems like a fearsome guy and when he roars, the Pirates usually listen. No mutiny on his ship.
Pirates return to action on Tuesday when they use up a couple of their games in hand on Manchester, who doesn’t play again until Friday. Winning both games in hand prior to that would be huge and give them a 5 point lead on the Atlantic Division banner.
