Playoff Race Clusterf**k, Mar. 22
There were only two games played last night (PIT 5:4 DET – SO, CGY 1:2 LAK – SO) and neither were of consequence to Sabres fans. The standings look the same today as they did yesterday, save for Pittsburgh’s 2 new points to draw them within two wins of Philadelphia.
Today, the Sabres venture to Montreal to take on the 6th place Canadiens. It’s a big game for the Sabres, as they need to win to keep Carolina at bay and their response in this game to their collapse on Sunday will be a telling factor about this team’s mental toughness. That game is at 7:30PM on MSG in the Buffalo area and TSN and RDS in Canada.
The game on the schedule that most impacts the Sabres is the OTT/CAR game. Buffalo would benefit greatly from a Senators win, especially if they win their own game as well. The next biggest game on the schedule is the FLA/NYR match-up. A win is unlikely, but a Panthers triumph would keep the Rangers in striking distance. After that, fans ought to be hoping for a Bruins win in the BOS/NJD game and a Wild win in the TOR/MIN game. Any help the Sabres can get in the standings against those opponents nipping at their heels is welcome.
